Affiliate Links / Ionos
Last post by geekbrigade - Jan 23, 2026, 04:01 AM
All of my domains are supplied by Ionos. I absolutely love them. I get domains at amazing prices and their customer service is fantastic. Ionos are also my email provider. They supply web hosting, dedicated servers, VPS, cloud servers, Wordpress hosting and so much more.

All of this is why I have been using them as my supplier for more years than I can remember. It is also why I am delighted to spread the word. The fact that they are allowing me to make a bit of money by doing so is just an added bonus.

If you are looking to buy a domain for your website, blog, or whatever else, please check them out. Buy using my affiliate link so that I am rewarded. Thank you  :)

General Discussion / Vile Social Media Behaviour
Last post by geekbrigade - Jan 23, 2026, 02:51 AM
This post is rather negative so, if you're not looking for negativity, please click on something else. You have been warned.

I have been a frequenter of various social media platforms since the days of MySpace and Bebo. I used to love the interactions and experiences I had on these platforms. Times, they are a-changing though. Sure, back in the day, online abuse was a thing but I feel it wasn't nearly as bad back then as it is now.

In the earlier days of the socials, if somebody did something which was genuinely offensive, you'd report it and the person would be banned. Now, not so much. The vast majority of comments I see on social media posts are absolutely disgusting.

Far too many people seem to forget that everyone else is entitled to have, and voice an opinion, even when it contradicts their own. When faced with other people's views, they become abusive; typically using the most offensive names, like r**ard, n**ce, f**got etc. Those are names I see thrown around on a very regular basis. As an autistic person, the use of the 'r' word really offends me. I have reported several uses of it and nothing has been done about it, despite the fact that it constitutes a hate crime. I also hate the use of no**e in this way, it has started to devalue it's meaning and, in my opinion, belittles the horrific suffering of the victims of actual paedophiles. These days, such names are used purely to try to shame someone into backing down.

Abuse also seems to be the commonly accepted response to being proved wrong. It is not unusual for people to ask for proof of something they're arguing about and when indisputable proof is given for the requester to become aggressive. Instead of admitting that they were wrong or deleting their argument, they start harassing the person who proved them wrong.

Oddly enough, the people who try to beat down other people for having an opposing opinion are usually the same people who defend their own nastiness by crying "FREE SPEECH!"

It really is horrific and in my opinion, it needs to change. I tend to stay away from social media as much as possible these days. I find that it stresses me out far too much. It seems the #bekind movement has been well and truly forgotten.

So, what is the answer to this problem? I'm not sure if there is one. Perhaps it has become too complex to fix. Maybe a combination of education, legislation and tougher action from the companies who run the social networks is the answer. I feel like they don't want to take action though. Banning people means less ad revenue for them and that's not a desirable outcome. I fear we are stuck with things as they are and so, I'm not giving their ads my view. I'll continue avoiding the worst platforms as much as possible until something is done about it.

Anyway, thank you for reading and rant over.

Affiliate Links / ID Mobile – Check Them Out!
Last post by geekbrigade - Jan 23, 2026, 02:46 AM
If you're looking for a new mobile phone provider, check out ID Mobile. They use the 3 network and in my experience, they are really good. You can choose from a range of plans including monthly, 12 monthly and 24 monthly sim only plans.

You can even choose to receive your service as an e-SIM rather than a physical sim so that 1. you can get started quicker and 2. you are saving the planet by avoiding plastic waste. That's what I did. I ordered my e-SIM in the middle of the night. I was told I would receive an email within 24-48 hours with the QR code to install it. I actually received it within a few hours and had it installed roughly 2 minutes later.

The main difference affecting the price of your deal is the amount of data you need; the more data you choose, the more you pay but the more you save at the same time.

Need a new phone on contract? ID Mobile can help you with that too! I can't comment on the price of the phone deals because I'm a sim only customer but from my research, ID Mobile's prices are really good!

If you decide that ID Mobile is to be your new provider, please use my link to make your order.

You get cashback, I get cashback. Win-win!

Recommendations / Stumpt
Last post by geekbrigade - Jan 23, 2026, 02:40 AM
I've been watching Stumpt for a few months now. I absolutely love their content, especially the Jackbox games.

Stumpt is a gaming channel. The team - Ash, Jasmine, Price and Aenne play a wide variety of really cool games and they do a lot for charity (Medecins Sans Frontieres - Doctors Without Borders). Their videos are a lot of fun, I think largely because of how well they all get on.

Stumpt have built a community, rather than an audience. The people who hang out in their Twitch chat and YouTube comments absolutely adore them and get on well together. I think that helps make them such great content creators. That and their lively, upbeat style.

Check them out:

And you can find their socials listed in the description of their YouTube channel.
